Slapin, Scott (1974-) - Nocturne, in Memory of Richard Lane  Ref: 2--004

Scott Slapin is a distinguished American violist, and a composer principally of music for his own instrument with others.

Of this work he writes:

"I wrote this Nocturne in 2004, a few weeks before the death of Richard Lane, my only composition teacher. The work is strongly influenced by Lane's style. My wife, violist Tanya Solomon and I visited him at his summer residence on Cape Cod and played the Nocturne twice through for him. It was the only piece I wrote that he liked 'as is', without any revisions."
