Bach, JS - Goldberg Variations, BWV 988 (arr)  Ref: 3--005 arranged for two violins and viola Among the most deeply satisfying of Bach's works, the Goldberg Variations include many movements that sit naturally on strings. Others require either extreme virtuosity or some degree of adaptation. The Ourtext arrangements have been designed to bring the work as far as possible within the string idiom and avoid unnecessary awkwardnesses while reproducing the musical impact of the original. A few movements call for advanced skill, but others are extremely playable. This is a work that has something for almost everybody, and intermediate players will find it rewarding to explore. In this edition both violinists are given the parts for both 1st and 2nd violin, to facilitate sharing and exchange of roles.
